This fellow was waiting next to the warming hut by the Murtle River. Although the humans tried to engage him in conversation, his response seemed cool and he never said a thing. When invited inside, he remained frozen in place. There was once a man in red who had a similar cold demeanor. Perhaps it is the way of these winter people.
Later that day, he was standing outside of our cabin! Despite wearing a clever disguise, he was recognizable due to a small freckle on his cheek. He is standing there still; not speaking or moving, but belonging. And he has what he needs.
I was out at the cabin with the humans. We planted a tree, put up the sparkly lights and got out the food. Before long the guests arrived. They helped us eat, played games, walked with the snowshoes and shared in the campfire fun. These activities happen when the snow comes. Humans seem to like it, and there is alwyas something in it for me.
